On Creativity and Fear

Introductory Remarks and Opening Exercise from a workshop by Michele Benzamin-Miki

What are you most afraid of? Loss? Disappointment? Rejection?
Being alone? Appearing foolish? Being misunderstood?

Fear shows up as anxiety, apprehension, panic, dread, worry, even depression. Sometime people get so used to it they forget it’s running everything they do.

Fear is also a messenger.
It tells you what you imagine you’re afraid of,
AND what you CAN DO when you’re not.

A Simple Recipe for Success and Change

sommersault to successSome people say that everything that happens to you is based on a choice or decision that you made. That may not always be true. What is true is that HOW you RESPOND to what happens to you in your life is absolutely your choice, and your responsibility.

That means – your mindset, your inner, emotional state, your creativity, your problem solving-ability, your ability to move forward with clear precise action … all  of that is your choice.

Abraham Lincoln once said, “People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”  You know that true, right? Or did you forget?
And if you forgot what is it that blocks you? What are you afraid of? What are you forgetting that prevents you from truly stepping into the fullness of your power … and who you can be?

Finding the Right Coach

Five Changes Coaching ProcessIt’s rash to imagine that you can attain your best without wise counsel, support, and mentorship. If you feel that you have gifts to offer the world why would you deliberately hold yourself back from doing all you can from maximizing your ability to share them? Professional athletes have coaches, great spiritual teachers have mentors, and organizations have consultants.

Even the Dalai Lama still has teachers to instruct him. The best athletes may have an entire squad of coaches and trainers. Leaders with the greatest responsibility and reach seek guidance from those whose perspectives they trust.

Why would you imagine that you deserve less, or could achieve your best with less? The more creative and competent you are, the more this is true.
